Sentencing Hearing For Carroll Man Accused Of Drug Trafficking Postponed To September

A sentencing hearing for a Carroll man accused of drug trafficking has been postponed until September. Thirty-nine-year-old David Alexander Schroeder was originally charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class B felony, and possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. After reaching a deal with prosecutors in June, Schroeder agreed to enter a guilty plea to the lesser charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine – five grams or less, a class C felony. In exchange, prosecutors would support the recommendation of a pre-sentencing investigation and drop the marijuana charge. Schroeder was scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing on Monday, Aug. 20, but a Carroll County District Court judge has approved a request from Schroeder’s attorney to delay the hearing until Monday, Sept. 19. A class C felony carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
