This past week was an historic one, with female governor, Kim Reynolds, making her very first Condition of the State address at the opening of the 2018 Legislative Session. In it, Gov. Reynolds made a point of saying that small towns and rural Iowa are the backbone of the state and a priority in this session. Sixth District State Senator, Republican Mark Segebart, says he agreed with several major points made in that address and is looking forward to discussions within the House and with Reynolds on this year’s priorities. Segebart hosted his first Legislative Forum of 2018 this past Saturday at Cronk’s Café in Denison and says it’s good to be continuing to work with and discuss ideas with colleagues about plans to make Iowa more competitive and a place where local businesses can thrive. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce will begin hosting Legislative Forums in locations across the county beginning on Saturday, Jan. 27. The first event will take place at the New Hope Activities Building from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. At these forums, constituents will get the chance to ask questions of Segebart and House District 12 Representative, Republican Brian Best, about issues of local importance and of developments during the 2018 General Assembly. A full calendar of the forums can be found below.
