Senator Grassley Seeking Answers On Classified Memos FBI Director Shared With Columbia Professor

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Chuck Grassley penned a letter yesterday (Wednesday) raising questions on the timing of the classification and chain of custody for memos between former FBI Director, James Comey, and President Donald Trump. Grassley pointed out that four of the seven memos were classified at the secret or confidential levels, and that Comey had reportedly provided copies of them to Columbia Law School Professor, Alan Richman, encouraging him to detail the memos to the press. If true, at least one these now marked classified was disclosed to Richman and he did, in fact, read a portion of one to a reporter from the New York Times. Richman has since refused to cooperate with the Judiciary Committee. Grassley states that if Richman had turned copies of the memos back to the FBI, details should be shared with the committee. He has also requested that several questions be answered no later than Jan. 17, including the timeline of the exchange of information between Comey and Richman, if any of these memos were marked classified at that time and the method used to transmit them.
