Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a semi-tractor trailer. On Sunday evening, Feb. 18, the Storm Lake Fire and Police Departments responded to Meridian Manufacturing to find a 2012 Kenworth engulfed in flames. They were able to determine that the driver of the truck owned by Double Bar S and Sons, Inc. of Springfield, Neb. had parked the truck and left it running for about 30 minutes. During that timeframe, the fire started in the driver’s compartment and was seen by a passing Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Deputy, who called it in. There were no injuries reported but the vehicle is considered a total loss with damages exceeding $20,000.
