The Sac County Sheriff’s Office is reporting they have collected thousands of dollars in fake $100 bills. According to law enforcement, the currency looks and feels genuine except for pink and white Chinese symbols appearing on both the front and back. They say a large portion of the recovered bills have been located in the Early area. Authorities are encouraging citizens and businesses to examine $100 bills before using them during a transaction. In October of 2017, the Iowa City Police Department reported a rash of counterfeit bills being passed that were nearly identical to the ones found recently in Sac County.
