Sac City Fire Department Hosts Poker Tournament Fundraiser This Weekend

Firefighters in Sac City are encouraging the public to join them tomorrow (Saturday) for a poker tournament to help them raise funds to equip two department vehicles. The Sac City Fire Department purchased a new ladder truck and pumper/tanker last year. An anonymous donor gave $100,000 to help pay for the vehicles. Fire Chief, Dale Duncan, says that donation and many others from the community are appreciated, but it did not cover the cost of everything they needed.

To address that difference, they are hosting a tournament at the Sac Country Club in Sac City. Duncan says there is still plenty of room for people to come and play, and participants will even have the chance to win some cash. The most important aspect, he adds, is that any money raised will be used to outfit the department.

The tournament gets started at 2 p.m, and the buy-in is $35 per player with an 80 percent payout. Refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.
