Resident Of Apartment In March Fire In Coon Rapids Arrested On Unrelated Charges

An Arthur woman, who was the apartment resident in the Coon Rapids Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) building when a March 28 fire destroyed the structure, has been arrested and made an initial appearance in Carroll County District Court on charges unrelated to that fire. Thirty-eight-year-old Collett Ann Ziegmann was taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at the Ida County jail on Friday, May 25. She made her appearance Saturday on the charge of control of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony. The arrest warrant was sought after the Coon Rapids Police Department located two firearms in that apartment as they investigated the cause of the fire. At that time, another warrant was issued for Ziegmann on a fourth-degree theft charge, a serious misdemeanor, in reference to a stolen Bomgaars gift card. No details on that charge have yet been released. Ziegmann remains in custody on a $5,000 bond for the felon in possession of firearms charge. If found guilty, she will face up to five years in prison and a maximum of $7,500 in fines. The latest update from Coon Rapids Police Chief, Andy Klein, stated that there had been no determination yet made on the cause and origination point of the fire at Ziegmann’s residence. The investigation by local, state and insurance authorities is ongoing.
