Representative Best Reminds Residents That New Legislation Will Be Taking Effect Today (Sunday)

Iowa House District 12 Representative, Brian Best of Glidden, is reminding area residents that there were several new pieces of legislation passed during the 87th General Assembly that will be going into effect on Sunday, July 1. “We had a very productive legislative session this past year and passed several bills that addressed issues related to education, health care and our workforce,” says Best. “The important work accomplished in 2018 will ensure that Iowa kids receive a world-class education. Iowa families have access to affordable health care and Iowa employers have the workforce necessary for the 21st century economy,” Best adds. Some of the bills that will be enacted July 1 include School District Fund Flexibility, Suicide Prevention and Adverse Childhood Experiences Identification and Training, School Security Plans, Combatting the Opioid Epidemic, Affordable Health Care Coverage, Future Ready Iowa and more. A more detailed description of these and other new bills can be found with this story on our website. Best will be traveling the district and meeting with Iowans in the upcoming months and welcomes input on this legislation as well as your ideas and priorities for the next session.
