Proceeds From Carroll Lumber Company’s Auction Saturday Will Go To Kellan’s Kingdom

It won’t be long before Carroll’s first all-inclusive playground for children of all abilities, Kellan’s Kingdom, will be erected on the site selected at Northeast Park. The community of Carroll and the surrounding area continue to support the ongoing fundraising efforts for the playground and the future addition of a Miracle League baseball/softball field. Bill Brotherton with Carroll Lumber Company, says they will be holding a special auction this Saturday with proceeds donated to these projects.

He says there are a wide variety of different products that will be put on the sale.

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. and last until around 2 p.m. Pat and Alie Tigges began fundraising for the project just last spring, and quickly raised more than $100,000 for the equipment and special surfacing. Pat says the support and the fundraising ideas they have seen for this project, named after their son, Kellan, who was born with a condition similar to cerebral palsy, has been phenomenal.

All of the equipment has been ordered and is expected to be delivered around the first part of September. Tigges says they will also receive in-kind donations from many area contractors for the installation, and they are hoping to have the Kellan’s Kingdom portion done by the end of September or first of October.

The City of Carroll has helped plan out Northeast Park for future expansion to include the ball field, walking paths and extra amenities. For Saturday’s sale, doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for shoppers to get a preview of the items that will be auctioned. Donations from Arcadia Meats, The Market on 30 and others will also be used to support the effort with hamburgers and pork burgers available for a free-will offering, with 100 percent of those proceeds also going to Kellan’s Kingdom.
