Passenger Reports Minor Injuries After Car-Deer Collision Friday Evening Near Ralston

One person has reported minor injuries following a car/deer collision Friday evening northwest of Ralston. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the accident near the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Walnut Avenue at approximately 8:54 p.m. According to law enforcement, 19-year-old Hannah Marie Schmidt, of Sac City, was traveling westbound on Highway 30 in a 2008 Ford Taurus when a deer ran into the roadway from the north ditch. Schmidt  was unable to avoid a collision and struck the deer with the vehicle’s front passenger side. She reported no injuries, but a passenger, 51-year-old Julie Marie Schmidt, of Sac City, was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
