Passenger Injured In Rollover Monday Night

A passenger was injured in a single-vehicle accident Monday night on Velvet Avenue. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports they were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:32 p.m. They found that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado K1500, driven by 39-year-old Michael Dan Smith of Carroll, was traveling southbound on Velvet when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the roadway. The truck entered the east ditch, where it rolled several times before landing upright. Smith was able to drive the truck out of the ditch. Thirty-seven-year-old Lorena Velazquez-Smith complained of possible minor injuries, but was not transported for treatment. There was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the pickup truck.
