One Person Killed And Two Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident In Calhoun County Monday Afternoon

One person was killed and two injured in a two-vehicle accident about five miles southwest of Rockwell City yesterday (Monday) afternoon. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 63-year-old Marlin Duane Bigelow, of Rockwell City, was traveling westbound in a 2009 Dodge Ram on 320th Street at approximately 4:33 p.m. near the uncontrolled intersection with Langley Avenue. At that same time, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 19-year-old Cole James Bush of Rockwell City, was travelling northbound on Langley. The vehicles entered the intersection where the Bush car collided with the driver side of the Bigelow truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest corner of the intersection. Bigelow was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital where he later died. His passenger, 61-year-old Angie Marie Bigelow, of Rockwell City, and Bush were transported to Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City by Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Lake City Fire Department. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
