One Of Powerball’s Winning Tickets Sold In Central Iowa

One of the two winning tickets in Saturday’s estimated $687.8 million jackpot was sold at a Casey’s store in Redfield, a community in central Iowa of about 830 individuals. That ticket holder will split the prize with another winner from New York. Saturday’s jackpot is the largest lottery prize ever won in Iowa and one of the largest lottery prizes ever offered around the world. “Even we are awestruck,” says Iowa Lottery CEO, Terry Rich. “This goes to show what we’ve said many times: You never know when the next big winner will hit.” The lottery will be conducting the standard security checks for the ticket involved. Casey’s will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket. The two new millionaires will be given the choice of a lump-sum payment or annuity option, which breaks down to a $343.9 million annuity or $198.1 million in a lump-sum for each. The Iowa lottery is required to make information about who won this prize public. A $1 million winning ticket was sold earlier last week in Davenport, just missing the Mega Ball number in Tuesday’s over $1.6 billion jackpot.
