Odebolt Man Sentenced To Two Days In Carroll County Jail After Pleading Guilty To Drug Possession

An Odebolt man has been ordered to serve jail time after pleading guilty to a drug possession charge in District Court for Carroll County. After reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors, 33-year-old Robert Allen Bird Jr. was sentenced to 60 days in the Carroll County jail with all but two days suspended and credit for time served. The charge stems from an incident on May 17 in which the Carroll Police Department located drug paraphernalia and marijuana in Bird’s vehicle. Bird was originally charged with third-offense possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, a class D felony, but the charge was reduced to second-offense possession in exchange for his guilty plea. Bird was placed on unsupervised probation for one year and ordered to pay $560 in fines and legal fees, complete a substance abuse evaluation and surrender his license to the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) for a period of six months.
