Nominations are now open for the Excellence in Teaching about Agriculture Award from the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation. The award was created to recognize pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers for their integrated efforts to teach students about the importance of food and agriculture in their daily lives and increase agriculture literacy. Nominated teachers will be evaluated on their understanding of the importance of the industry, the relationships between ag, food and fiber production, animal health, energy system and more and the way they implement those concepts in their classroom. Applications must be submitted on or before Nov. 30 and can be completed online through the link included below this story. The selected teacher will receive $500 and have up to $1,000 of their related expenses covered to attend the 2019 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Little Rock, Ark.
