No One Injured In Accident That Closed Down West Highway 30 In Carroll Tuesday Afternoon

No one was injured in a rollover accident that closed down a section of Highway 30 in Carroll for about an hour Tuesday afternoon. A Carroll Police officer was dispatched to the scene at the intersection with Maple Street at approximately 3:19 p.m. Seventy-three-year-old Judy Ann Goodwin of Coon Rapids was driving eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2010 Ford Fusion, and had stopped to make a left-hand turn into the parking lot at O’Reilly’s Auto. She says that a westbound vehicle was also stopped at the intersection, waiting to make a turn, and that driver waived her on. Goodwin told the officer she thought it was clear and did not see another westbound vehicle in the outside lane, a 2005 GMC Sierra K1500, driven by 61-year-old Rock Lee Bell of Lake View. As she turned into the lot, she struck the Bell vehicle and the impact caused him to leave the roadway and lose traction. As Bell proceeded back onto the highway the truck rolled over onto its side, blocking the westbound lanes of traffic. There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Bell truck and $3,000 to the Goodwin car. Goodwin was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn.
