No one was injured in a Father’s Day van/semi accident just east of Mt. Carmel on U.S. Highway 71. At approximately 7:23 p.m. Sunday night, 69-year-old Thomas Francis Siemann of Carroll was driving north on U.S. Highway 71 in a 1999 Ford Windstar. He was following a 2005 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer that was being driven by 29-year-old Weston Francis Pudenz of Breda. Pudenz was slowing the semi to make a left-hand turn onto 140th Street when Siemann tried to pass. The semi struck the passenger side of the Siemann van. There was an estimated $4,500 in damage to the Windstar and $2,500 to the Freightliner. Siemann was cited for passing too near a bridge, intersection or railroad crossing.
