The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is getting ready to bring the new license plates to county treasurer’s offices in the next couple of weeks. The City and County Reboot design was selected last August after Iowa residents were given the opportunity to vote on their favorites at the Iowa State Fair. That design is rolling off production lines at Iowa Prison Industries as we speak. “The main purpose of license plates is to make the vehicle easily identifiable,” said LaVonne Short with the DOT. She adds they did quite a bit of testing to make sure that the new plates serve that purpose well.
