A section of Main Street in Carroll will be closed now through 4 p.m. on Friday, June 15. Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, says the one block closure, between 11th and 12th Streets, is due to a necessary repair. A private line crosses the street and crews will need to close the northbound lane to thru traffic at that location. The southbound lane is slated to remain open throughout that identified time period. And as of Wednesday morning, there are no more railroad crossing closures within the city limits. Krauel says that, normally, the company in charge of signage for the closures contacts the city and requests permission to do so. In this instance, the company neglected to notify city officials directly of their plans, and so they had no opportunity to give advance notice to drivers of the need for alternate routes. The only known work being done on crossings in the area will be on rural roads near Glidden–Colorado Street and Phoenix Avenues during the day on Wednesday and Sycamore Avenue in the overnight hours.
