A motorcyclist was injured in an accident late last week in Breda. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to Main Street at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Friday, July 13. Both a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 31-year-old Lucas Ryan Schroeder of Battle Creek, and a 2015 Honda C3R, driven by 20-year-old Dennis Allen Ahrenholtz of Denison, were westbound on Main Street. Ahrenholtz attempted to pass the Schroeder truck and a trailer he was hauling on the right side, but he struck the curb and lost control. He hit the passenger side of the trailer and was thrown from the motorcycle and then run over by the wheels of the trailer. Ahrenholtz was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services with suspected serious injuries. Schroeder was uninjured in the accident. There was an estimated $500 in damage to the trailer and $2,000 in damages to the Honda. Ahrenholtz was cited for improper passing on the right.
