More Than 50 Iowa Communities, Including Carroll, Participating In National Night Out Tuesday

More than four-dozen Iowa communities, including Carroll, will be taking part in Tuesday’s National Night Out. The events, designed to foster relationships between law enforcement and the towns they service, are always held on the first Tuesday of August. Carroll County Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, says the police-organized event is a collaborative effort that includes all first responders.

The National Association of Town Watch launched the event in 1984 and now thousands of communities nationwide take part every year. Matt Peskin (PESS-kin) is the event’s national project coordinator.

Carroll Police Officer, Tony Amdore, has been responsible for the organization of Tuesday’s night out in Graham Park. He says they not only want residents and their families to know that they are there for protection, but also to band together to let criminals know they will fight against them. Amdore says this message is delivered through a whole lot of family-friendly and fun activities.

National Night Out will run from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include a free-will offering dinner provided by the Carroll County Cattlemen, with proceeds being used to fund next year’s event. To see if your community is participating in National Night Out, visit: www.natw.org.
