Man Wielding Knives At Jefferson Convenience Store Gets Assistance From Mobile Crisis Unit

Mobile Crisis workers were called in to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center Tuesday after a Mason City man was arrested in an incident at a Jefferson convenience store. At approximately 12:45 a.m., the Jefferson Police Department was called to the Sparky’s on Highway 30 East for a customer wielding several knives. An officer with the department and a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to find 56-year-old Willie Edward Cork behind the checkout counter with the knives. He was telling others that “people were after him.” He dropped the knives when ordered to do so by authorities and was taken into custody without further incident. Cork has been charged with disorderly conduct.
