Lots Of Educational Fun At 2018 Kids’ Health & Safety Fair, Just At A New Location

What started out as a bicycle rodeo, has grown over the years and is now one of the most popular annual events for the children of Carroll and the area. Sgt. Gary Bellinghausen, with the Carroll Police Department, is again involved with the planning of the Kids’ Health and Safety Fair, which will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bellinghausen says kids are still encouraged to ride their bikes to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) that Saturday morning.

The entire event is free for parents and children and offers fun and educational activities for a whole variety of different health and safety issues beyond their bicycles.

Bellinghausen says they will also learn about some fun, physical fitness activities, how to prepare tasty, healthy food snacks and how to look at labels and learn what truly is healthy and what is not. But not only their physical health will be addressed at this event, Bellinghausen says there is something new being added this year.

He adds that Chief, Brad Burke, is working on some ideas for giveaways, but the kids will just have to come out to see what those are, all while having a great time at the Kids’ Health and Safety Fair. A drawing for a new bike will be held at the end of the event. A flyer with more details is included below.
