Library And City Hall Projects Move From Demolition To Reconstruction

A recent update on the progress with the Carroll Public Library and City Hall renovation projects shows both shifting gears, according to City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver.

At the former Commercial Savings Bank building, the two vaults have been removed to make room for city hall offices. Pogge-Weaver says they are awaiting the arrival of support pieces.

Materials for the library site are expected to be coming in this week to begin framing out the final spaces in the Farner Government Building. Pogge-Weaver says that some structural support is also needed on this part of the project because of the added weight of the books on the second floor.

Even though the walls aren’t being put up yet, they have begun laying out on the floor where they will be and it is taking shape very quickly. Pogge-Weaver adds that moving out of the demolition phase also means they can breathe a little easier about the unknowns that may have been encountered at that point.

There is more good news, he adds, and that is they are at the lower end of the contingencies for the project and are coming in under what was expected.
