Area senior citizens are invited to learn how to protect themselves from scammers in an upcoming free presentation. On Thursday, Oct. 18, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. local law enforcement officials will be at Garden View Assisted Living. Carroll County Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, and Carroll Police Sgt., Gary Bellinghausen, will provide details on how to avoid becoming a scam victim and how to recognize the tactics used by people whose sole goal is to get your money. The pair will also explain exactly why these thieves are targeting this demographic. A question and answer session will follow.
