Lake View’s New Splash Pad A Big Hit In Opening Weeks

Lake View’s newest attraction, a splash pad in Speaker Park, has generated a lot of visitors in the two weeks since it has opened, and city officials are pleased with the completed project. The splash pad first opened to the public on May 25, the Friday before Memorial Day, and City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the public’s response has been tremendous.

It took less than two years for the Lake View Hometown Pride Committee to design the splash pad, fundraise and finish construction. Peterson says they even managed to come in below the $150,000 budget.

The city is working to determine what kind of operating costs the splash pad will have. Previously, only estimates were available, but more accurate data is available now that the attraction is functioning.

Peterson adds they will have a better grasp on water usage after a few months of monitoring. The splash pad is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.daily for the season.
