Lake View Woman Charged With Child Endangerment Reaches Plea Agreement

A Lake View woman, who is accused of leaving her children unattended for hours, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to court records, 23-year-old Emily Sue Gosnell, was formally charged in Carroll County District Court with three counts of child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors, at the end of August. The charges stem from an incident on June 26 in the 1100 block of Woodland Drive. The original criminal complaint indicates Gosnell lived in Carroll at the time and left her children at home while she left to work an overnight shift in Lake View from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Authorities were notified after the six-year-old child requested help from a neighbor with feeding and cleaning their younger siblings. In lieu of going to trial on Tuesday, Oct. 16, Gosnell reached a plea agreement last week. In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop two counts of child endangerment, and she was granted a deferred judgement on the remaining count, meaning court records regarding the matter will be expunged, pending successful completion of a one-year probation period. Gosnell was also ordered to pay $625 in fines.
