Lake View City Limits Grow As City Readies For New Lagoon

The Lake View city limits have expanded as the community prepares for the installation of a new wastewater treatment facility. The city council held a public hearing Monday to hear from citizens that may have concerns about the annexation of the proposed lagoon site on the northern edge of town. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they did not hear any dissenting arguments and had support from the current property owner.

The property will add an almost negligible amount to the city’s taxable valuation and will have little impact on budget planning. Peterson says most people will hardly notice a difference now that the plot is part of Lake View.

The city is currently in negotiations with Larry Hauser to purchase about 14 acres of land to place the entire site under the city’s control. Once that purchase is complete, construction on the $4.65 million lagoon is set to begin in the spring with the facility operational by 2019.
