Black Hawk Lake will lose some of its parking near the east shore once the Lake View City Council adopts a resolution limiting roadside parking on Sunset Drive. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they were approached by property owners from the street to make the change.
The ordinance would ban roadside parking on both sides of Sunset Drive, with the first reading approved by the city council on Monday on a vote of four to one. According to Peterson, traffic and visibility were the primary reason behind moving ahead with the parking restrictions.
The ordinance still requires two additional readings before being adopted. The third and final reading is slated for Monday, Aug. 6 at the Lake View Municipal Building. If approved, the new ordinance would go into effect sometime later next month.
