Beginning next week, Lake City employees will be flushing hydrants throughout the community. Work will take place between Monday, July 30 and Friday, Aug. 3, and residents may see some slight discoloration in their water as small amounts of rust are dislodged from the mains. Officials say discolored water is safe to drink and advise residents who see rusty water that they can remove the discoloration by opening their faucets until the water runs clear. Lake City flushes their mains twice per year, generally once in the fall and once in the spring. Citizens with questions should contact city hall at 712-464-3111.
