Lake City Police Department Should Be Back To Full Staff By Early 2019

Officials in Lake City are hoping to have the Lake City Police Department back to full staff by early next year. Administrator, Eric Wood, says the council is putting a priority on hiring a new full-time officer because the department has been shorthanded for nearly nine months.

According to Wood, they have almost a dozen very qualified candidates for the position. He says Police Chief, Bobby Rist, and the city council are pleased with the quality of the applicants.

He says they should be back to full staff in early 2019 if everything goes according to plan.

Wood notes they will likely be competing for the applicants with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, as they are currently searching for a new officer, as well.
