Kuemper Volleyball And Student Council Team Up For Pink Out Game Next Week

The Kuemper High School (KHS) student council and volleyball team are working together again this year to host a pink out to raise awareness for breast cancer patients and survivors. Breast cancer has impacted almost everybody in some manner, and Jacob Heitshusen, a junior and student council member, says the event is truly a simple and easy way to show support.

The pink out will take place during the home varsity and junior varsity volleyball games against Lewis Central on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Students are hoping to make a direct impact on individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment. During the game, raffle tickets will be available to purchase for $1 apiece, six for $5 or 25 for $20. They will also be selling baked goods and hosting a silent auction throughout the evening. Junior, Cami Uhlenkamp, says they are looking to local residents and businesses for donations.

Pink out t-shirts are also available for $12 per shirt and will be available before Tuesday’s game. The order deadline was originally at midnight this (Tuesday) evening, but Heitshusen says they have extended that to Wednesday to give everybody a chance to get a shirt.

All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase gas cards and create care packages for cancer patients at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Individuals or businesses interested in donating items for the silent auction or purchasing shirts can follow the links included with this story on our website. Junior varsity is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the high school gymnasium, followed by varsity starting at 7 p.m.
