Jury Trial For Carroll Woman Accused Of Defrauding Bank Out Of $2,000 Scheduled For September

The trial for a Carroll woman accused of defrauding a Carroll bank out of $2,000 has been scheduled for later this summer. According to court records, 37-year-old Brandy Lynn Venteicher entered a not guilty plea to second-degree theft, a class D felony, and waived her right to a speedy trial. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 4. Venteicher is accused of altering a check for fuel to make it seem as if it had been written to her for wages. The bank caught the fraud but still experienced a $2,000 loss. A pretrial conference is scheduled for July 26 at the Carroll County Courthouse to determine if the case will be resolved by plea agreement, be dismissed or proceed to trial. If found guilty of the charge, Venteicher faces up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
