An investigation continues in the attempted use of a counterfeit bill at the Jefferson A & W restaurant. The Jefferson Police Department was contacted by employees at approximately 8:10 p.m. Tuesday night as they were attempting to stall the subjects. A female had come through the drive thru and attempted to pay for food with a $50 bill. The clerk was suspicious and used a marking pen to check its authenticity, at which time it was determined to be counterfeit. The woman left without the food, but a registration plate was reported to the responding officer. The car is registered in Fort Dodge, and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Jefferson Police Department at 515-386-2136.
