In response to a recent incident involving a minor in possession of vaping products, the Jefferson Police Department has issued a statement to help clear up misconceptions about these items. According to Iowa code, the sale, gifting or otherwise supplying of any tobacco, cigarettes, alternative nicotine or vapor products to any person under 18 years of age is illegal. The use of any of these by a minor is also prohibited. Any and all violations of the code will result in citations to the parties supplying and/or using the products.
