The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is reminding area farmers that the deadline to sign up for the cover crop premium reduction is looming. Producers interested in taking advantage of the innovative new program that provides a $5 per acre reduction on crop insurance premiums in 2018 if cover crops were planted in the fall of last year need to act by Monday Jan. 15. Cover crop acres currently enrolled in state and/or federal programs, however, are not eligible for this program. For more information or to sign up online, simply follow the link included here.
