Iowa residents will enjoy free fishing without a license for three days beginning next Friday. From June 1 to June 3, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will allow fishing without a license at waters across the state. “This is a great time to take kids fishing or invite a neighbor or friend to come along,” says Joe Larscheid, chief of the Iowa DNR Fisheries Bureau. Swan Lake State Park will be hosting a fishing event during the free fishing weekend. On Saturday, June 2, staff will provide poles, bait and fishing instruction for beginners from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at no cost.
