Investigators Have Pursued More Than 200 Leads In Search For Mollie Tibbetts

Authorities updated the public Tuesday afternoon on the search for a missing 20-year-old University of Iowa student. Mollie Tibbetts was last seen at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 18 in Brooklyn while out for a run. In a press conference broadcast by KCCI, Poweshiek County Sheriff, Thomas Kriegal, says investigators have been working tirelessly in their effort to locate Tibbets.

Investigators are following up on every credible lead, and indicated they are receiving new leads almost every day. Kriegal says authorities have created dedicated lines to accept tips related to the case.

Director of Investigative Operations for the Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS), Kevin Winker, says they have developed a timeline of events leading up to Tibbetts’ disappearance that they are confident in and are using every available resource in their search.

Winker says the public’s interest in the case is understandable, but officials have decided to change the way they will be releasing information.

There is currently a $1,000 reward from Crime Stopper of Central Iowa that was matched by T.I.P Rural Electric Cooperative of Brooklyn. Winker stresses that anybody with information that could help in the search should contact authorities by calling 800-452-1111 or 515-223-1400.
