A local motorcycle dealership is collecting boots from area fire departments as part of their effort to raise money for each. As of Wednesday, Harley-Davidson of Carroll has boots from 14 departments sitting in the front window of their dealership on Highway 30 East. General Manager, Wade Adams, says they will be collecting monetary donations until the second Saturday in August.

On Aug. 11, the dealership is inviting customers, motorcycle enthusiasts and fire department supporters to stop in and celebrate the region’s first responders. Adams says they will have food and drinks available for attendees and an opportunity to have a little fun while raising money.

This is the first boot fundraiser Harley-Davidson of Carroll has hosted, but their goal is to make supporting area fire departments an annual event. Owner, Terry Ruchti, says they are not out searching for recognition and are just hoping to make a positive impact.

Adams and Ruchti say they have other fundraisers planned in the near future. They have not selected the beneficiary for those efforts but have indicated the next event will likely be focused on military veterans.
