Greene County Sheriff’s Office Responds To Three Separate Accidents Wednesday

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to three separate motor vehicle incidents on Wednesday. At approximately 7:59 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of D Avenue on a report that a power line was down on a propane tanker truck. Authorities determined that 37-year-old Justin Venteicher, of Jefferson, was backing up and struck a utility pole, breaking it off and causing the wire to land on the truck. No injuries were reported during the incident. At 8 a.m., a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of 237th Street and Jordan Avenue. Initial reports indicate an unidentified juvenile lost control of his 2006 Mazda 6 and struck the guard rail. The guard rail was undamaged, but damage to the Mazda was estimated at approximately $3,000. The final accident occurred at approximately 4:37 p.m. near the intersection of Quest Avenue and 305th Street, about three miles north of Jamaica. According to authorities, 81-year-old Larry Richards, of Jamaica, was traveling northbound on Quest in a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and failed to stop at the posted stop sign. The vehicle proceeded into the ditch and was deemed a total loss. Richards was transported to the Dallas County Hospital for treatment of injuries and was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
