A 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 56-year-old Deborah Stensland of Perry, failed to stop at a posted sign and pulled out in front of a 2003 Honda Odyssey, driven by 28-year-old Samantha Garcia of Des Moines. The Garcia vehicle struck the Stensland Jeep, causing an estimated $2,500 damage to the Stensland vehicle and $2,000 to the Garcia car. No injuries were reported. At approximately 9:56 p.m. that same night, another two-vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of 237th Street and Kirkwood Avenue west of Jefferson. Twenty-year-old Luke Nelson of Jefferson lost control of the 1998 Ford F150 he was driving and entered the west ditch. The accident was observed by 20-year-old Jacie Hawthorne of Scranton, who was driving a 2001 Ford Escort. Upon seeing the accident, Hawthorne hit the brakes, causing the vehicle to lose control and hit the Nelson truck. There was an estimated total of $3,500 in damages. No injuries were reported.
