Gov. Reynolds Pleased With Passage Of Future Ready Iowa Act

The Iowa House of Representatives has passed Gov. Kim Reynolds plan to train Iowans for the jobs of tomorrow with the Future Ready Iowa Act on a 98-0 vote. The bill outlines a goal of seeing 70 percent of Iowans having completed education or training beyond high school by 2025. “Future Ready Iowa is my number one priority because it gives Iowans the opportunity to learn a high-demand skill and then not only get a job to pay the bills, but also a rewarding career,” Reynolds says.  The plan will provide money for Iowans seeking an associate degree at Iowa colleges and universities through the Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarships. Those seeking a bachelor degree, who have already earned more than half of the credits needed in a high-demand major, can receive support through the Future Ready Iowa Grant Program. The initiative will also expand the STEM BEST (Businesses Engaging Students and Teachers) program through real-world projects.
