Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Half-Staff In Honor Of Late Senator, John McCain

Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to half-staff in honor and remembrance of Arizona Senator, John McCain. Flags are to remain lowered  from now until sunset on Sunday, Sept. 2. “We lost an American hero,” says Gov. Reynolds. “John McCain’s life reflected some of the very best our country had to offer. He understood the greatness of America, fought tirelessly for our values and put forth decades of admirable service to this nation. He was a loving husband and father, and we will never forget him or the legacy he leaves behind,” she adds. Flags will be at half-staff at the State Capitol Building, the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff as a sign of respect. McCain died on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the age of 81 due to complications from brain cancer.
