Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Half-Staff For Burial Of Iowa Marine

Gov. Km Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to half-staff tomorrow (Thursday) to honor a fallen U.S. Marine. Lance Corporal John D. Killen III, of Davenport, went missing in action on June 30, 1967 after his helicopter crashed in Vietnam. His remains, along with two other Marines that died in the crash, were identified in March of last year and returned to the U.S. for burial with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Flags will be at half-staff at the State Capitol Building, the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state from sunrise to sunset. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff as a sign of respect.
