Glidden-Ralston Looks To Kick Off 2018-19 School Year With More Collaborative Teaching For High Schoolers

Glidden-Ralston Community Schools open their doors for the start of the 2018-19 school year next week. Superintendent, Kreg Lensch, says many things have changed while students were gone on summer break. Regular maintenance was completed in hallways and classrooms, and additional security cameras were installed inside the building and around the grounds. Lensch says the most noticeable difference will be the switch to a more collaborative teaching environment for secondary education.

The school board put their focus during the summer on ensuring the school was in compliance with state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Lensch says they achieved this by setting aside spaces specifically designed for privacy.

First-year teachers have a full day on Monday, Aug. 20 to get acquainted with the district. Lensch says Glidden-Ralston is lucky to welcome three tremendous new educators.

Returning teachers are back in school for a half-day on Monday as well with full in-service days for all staff on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the final day of summer break, students and families are invited to an open house, sponsored by the Glidden-Ralston Booster Club from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The excitement surrounding the start of the school year extends beyond students and families. Thanks to generous donations from the community, renovations were completed at the softball complex and football field. Lensch says their stakeholders are wonderful.
