Glidden Juvenile Faces Charges After Watercraft Accident On Clear Lake

A Glidden juvenile is facing charges after a boating accident Friday on Clear Lake. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Clear Lake Fire and Rescue were called to a location near North Shore Drive at approximately 8:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found that a 15-year-old male was operating a personal watercraft with a 16-year-old juvenile male from Carroll as a passenger. They struck the rear of another personal watercraft of three 17-year-old females, all from Cedar Falls. One of the females was struck directly and thrown into the water. She was brought to shore by emergency personnel and transported to a Mason City hospital with a leg injury. She was then later transferred to a Rochester, Minn. hospital. Her condition at this time is unknown. The 15-year-old Glidden male has been charged with reckless use of a watercraft and operation of a watercraft by an underage person without boating education. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol assisted with this incident.
