Glidden has installed new signs at some of the city parks to remind dog owners that their pets are not allowed in certain places. The issue came to light after city hall received several complaints about the amount of animal waste found in the area. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says she is referring to two specific locations.
Danner notes that these fields are places where children go to play, and the conditions were becoming unsanitary. She says the problem had reached a point where something needed to be done.
Danner says Glidden is fortunate to have wonderful parks and they need the public’s help in maintaining them. Several waste stations were installed earlier this year to make this easier for pet owners.
If residents continue to ignore the ordinance, the city has indicated it could begin issuing fines for noncompliance.
