Glidden City Council Delays Awarding Bid For Slide Renovation A Second Time

The Glidden City Council has delayed choosing a company to manage an estimated $26,000 slide restoration at the Glidden Aquatic Center for a second time. The council first received bids for the project about a month ago, but they were unable to select one due to differences in how the companies submitted their bids. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says a second attempt on Monday, Oct. 8 to find an acceptable bid ended nearly the same way.

According to Danner, four companies submitted bids at the Sept. 10 meeting, and the number dropped to two at the most recent meeting. She says the council wants to make sure the remaining companies are submitting their bids with identical specifications so they have an suitable price comparison. With only a few companies offering slide restoration services, officials want to be certain they are making the best choice possible.

The council indicated they would send both companies updated specifications and request they resubmit their bids. The council will consider those new bids at a future meeting.
