Get Ready To Relay Indoors–Wet Forecast Has Organizers Moving Friday’s Carroll County Relay To Middle School

The wet weather and a forecast that is predicting more of the same has resulted in a change of plans for this Friday’s Carroll County Relay for Life, according to Senior Community Development Manager with the American Cancer Society, Kim Durst.

She says the 2018 Relay in the gymnasium, lunch room and common areas will be a better fit to match the unpredictability of the Iowa weather. Durst says they have had to move things inside periodically, and it really can generate some excitement with a change.

Again, Durst stresses this will not change the timeline for events. The opening ceremony will be at noon and theme laps will start a 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. they will begin the scavenger hunt and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. representatives from A Head of the Times and Salontief will be hosting their annual ponytail cutting event. The Survivors Dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the luminaries will be lit at 9:30 p.m. And the most important thing will be staying the same as well.

Teams are asked to report to the registration table upon arrival to get checked in and to make any team donations. Survivors should report to the survivor table for registration and to pick up shirts.
