Friends Of Kuemper Ball Reach Milestone At 2018 Event

The Friends of Kuemper Ball reached a milestone Saturday after co-chairs announced a fundraising total of $563,505. This is the seventh consecutive year that donations have topped a half-million dollars, and in the 34 years since the ball’s inception, total contributions have now exceeded more than $10 million. Co-chair, Jeremy Schechinger, says it was a great feeling to be a part of the team for such an important landmark.

This year’s theme was “Generations of Pride”, and co-chair, Barb Toohey, says that was on full display during the night’s festivities.

Fundraisers are held and donations are made throughout the year to reach a total dollar amount. That money is used to maintain teacher pay, technology improvements, tuition assistance and much more. Co-chair, Jake Gute, says every donation is appreciated and their total says a lot about the Kuemper family.

This year was the first time the event was held in the Kuemper Fieldhouse. It took many hands to make everything run smoothly and Director of Alumni and Annual Giving, Alayna Hansen, expressed her thanks to everybody who made the event a success.

The big winner of the $20,000 vehicle raffle from Adams Motor Company, Macke Motors, Team Auto, Motor Inn, Champion Ford and Wittrock Motors was Mike Bueltel. This year’s $10,000 ag raffle winner from Haley Equipment, Olsen’s Outdoor Power and Van Wall Equipment was Don Hoyle. Event organizers will be contacting the various other raffle winners directly in the near future to inform them of their prize.
